Eight Is Enough

You know, I could go off on an angry July 4th rant about how George W. Bush and Dick Cheney are using the US Constitution as so much toilet paper, but fuck it; they're already ruining my country - why let 'em spoil my day on top of it?

Instead, since my pal MJ has tagged me with this here meme thang, I'm gonna lighten the mood with eight random facts and/or habits about me...

First,  the rules, always with the rules:
1.We have to post these rules before we give you the facts.
2. Players start with eight random facts/habits about themselves.
3. People who are tagged need to write their own blog about their eight things and post these rules.
4. At the end of your blog post, you need to choose eight people to get tagged and list their names.
5. Don’t forget to leave them each a comment telling them they’re tagged, and to read your blog.

FACT: Between the ages of seven and ten, I couldn't decide whether I wanted to grow up to be Flip Wilson or Bela Lugosi. There's an amusing ABC after-school special in there somewhere.

FACT: Much as I love meat of (almost) all kinds, I could conceivably live without it. But a life without pasta would not be a life worth living.

HABIT: I say "conceivably" whenever I really mean, "Maybe, but it ain't gonna happen."

FACT: Pete Townshend and Neil Young are my two main guitar heroes, in terms of influencing what I actually sound like when I play guitar. But if I could just pick up the guitar and magically play like anyone, I would want to play like Grant Green.

FACT: If I could pitch like any player in major league baseball, I would pitch like Greg Maddux. I love it that he's not a meathead-with-a-cannon like Roger Clemens, but rather has "gotten by" (to the tune of 340 wins and counting) with brains, command, finesse and a sense of humor. A class act, all the way.

HABIT: When I'm on the road for a story, the first thing I do when I check into my hotel is set up my iPod and portable speakers. Nothing warms up a generic hotel room like a little Isley Brothers or Walter Wanderley...

HABIT: I cannot hear or see the word "Transformers" without singing the old TV cartoon theme song in my head as, "Transvestites -- more than meets the eye!"

FACT: When I die -- which I do hope is not any time soon -- I want to be cremated and have my ashes scattered in the Indian Canyons in Palm Springs. And I want "Il Ritorno di Ringo " by Ennio Morricone w/ Maurizio Graf played at my send-off...

Oh yeah, now I gotta tag eight folks. How 'bout:

Stu
Natalie
Greg
Erik S.
Michael A.
Erik H.

and, from over in MySpace land:

Michael P.
Sarah

Happy 4th, Y'all!!!
